What to do in Ao Nang and Krabi
The combination of sea, mountains, and the natural limestone rock formations provides a great variety of ways to explore and enjoy the surroundings. Plus, you can cap an adventurous daytrip off with a relaxing swim in the pool and in-house massage!
HONG ISLAND DAY TRIP
Hire a longtail boat to Hong Island and swim in the lagoon followed by snorkelling off Hong’s picture perfect semi-circular beach.
TIGER CAVE TEMPLE
Walk up to Tiger Temple Cave. Fabulous views.
KAYAKING - AO THALANE
Kayaking at Ao Thalene through a Limestone karst canyon and a mangrove forest – absolutely gorgeous and you get a workout. Lunch at the pier or on route at one of our favourite restaurants – Khao Thong Terrace.
DRAGON CREST MOUNTAIN - NGON NAK TRAIL
A stunning reward for those who make the climb. It's a 3-hour trek to the top, but the 360 panorama of the Ao Nang area is unforgettable. Start early (by 10am latest) and bring plenty of water!
HUAY TO WATERFALLS
Head up to Huay Tho Waterfalls. There are about 5 falls and pools to swim in beneath each one. They have a small cafe for lunch and snacks. On the drive up or back, stop off at some of the caves used by prehistoric man. Follow the signposts.
A trip to the to the Emerald Pool and Hot Springs offer a fabulous introduction to Krabi's natural wonders. They are about a 40 min drive away and 15 mins or so between them.
PHRANANG CAVE BEACH
This is the nicest, closest beach in the Ao Nang area. Catch a longtail boat from the booking center at the corner of Ao Nang beachfront road. It's inexpensive and a quick trip to this gorgeous spot. A fantastic day trip!
KRABI TOWN WALKING STREET
Krabi Night Market on Fri, Sat, Sun night in the centre of Krabi. Great for local souvenirs and to get the full food stall experience plus there is usually a karaoke style show being put on so you can hear the local talent.
SUNSET at NOPPHARAT THARA BEACH
Head to Noppharat Thara beach at low tide and walk out to the little island, see crabs, shells and rock pools etc. Visit the Strawberry Moons beach bar and have a fresh fruit shake or cocktail.
THAI COOKING CLASS
Do a Thai cookery class at Mrs Ya’s, just round the corner from the villa and eat your creations for lunch. She’ll give you a recipe book at the end and then you can head to one of the local open air markets to choose all your own fresh ingredients and start cooking at home. Ya Cookery School
AO NANG BEACH - LAST FISHERMAN
Hang out at Ao Nang Beach in the Last Fisherman or Last Cafe (bar and snack food on the sand). Swim and go for a massage or get your hair braided at the beachside huts. Gorgeous scenery and very relaxed.
JUST CHILL OUT
If you just want to relax and chill, there is plenty to do at the villa too. We have a large covered terrace to lounge on, cable TV and a mass of DVD’s to watch in the TV room (check the drawers). There is Wifi throughout the villa. Lots of books to read. We have games like Monopoly, Hop Ching, cards etc. in the TV room chest. And probably best of all, you can call in the massage ladies.
There is an excellent local website that provides a mass of information on Krabi, tours, activities, eating out, shopping, all the different beaches etc: Your Krabi
